The Presbytery of Perth has now granted the congregations of Killearn and Strathblane permission to call a minister, on the basis of a seven-year Reviewable Tenure.
KILLEARN KIRK L/W STRATHBLANE PARISH CHURCH
Killearn Kirk and Strathblane Parish Church have chosen the members of the Nominating Committee.
The nominating committee will hold their first meeting on Thursday, 4th June 2026 at 7.30pm in Killearn when they will choose a chairperson/convenor and a secretary/clerk. As a team, they will meet with the Vacancy Procedural Committee of Perth Presbytery. The Kirk Sessions have provided the Nominating Committee with all the necessary details to equip them in their task ahead, including the Five-Year Action Plan agreed by both Kirk Sessions in March 2026. The nominating committee will decide how best to seek out the right person to be Killearn Kirk l/w Strathblane Parish Churches new minister for both parishes. They will truly ‘search’, including interviewing and going to meet candidates, attending services where they conduct worship and will listen to streamed/recorded services. It will take time, energy, and commitment.
The discussions of the nominating committee will be confidential, so please don’t ask them what they are doing. Please DO pray for them and help them to do their job well.
When under God’s guidance, they come to an agreement of who is the right person, they will announce their decision to the Kirk Sessions and congregations and that person will be invited to conduct worship in Killearn and Strathblane, when you will vote your agreement or otherwise with the selection of a sole nominee to be the new minister of Killearn Kirk l/w Strathblane Parish Church.
The new minister will be inducted to the charges of Killearn and Strathblane at a service arranged by the Presbytery of Perth.
